If there’s one thing that Sags love to do, it’s traveling. You might notice how a lot of Sagittarius people are cultured and wise. These traits are normally attributed to their sign being ruled by the planet Jupiter which is associated with philosophy and the search for truth. But Jupiter is also the planet of freedom and exploration. Traveling gives a person the opportunity to experience different traditions, meet new people of different backgrounds, learn of other’s cultures and, yes, soul-search in the process. Travel helps a Sag develop and mature.

Now, the new year has come and it’s time to make new travel plans but which part of the map will the Archer thrust its arrow? Here’s a list of places we’d recommend you to consider visiting this year … or whenever you’re free, really.

Croatia. Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw once wrote: Those who seek paradise on Earth must come to Dubrovnik. This is a city within Croatia’s Dalmatia region. It is famous for the wall that runs around that city which is almost 2 kilometers and was made to protect the city. Centuries of heritage has given this beautiful city a character of its own. From the rule of the Eastern Roman Empire, to becoming the Republic of Ragusa, to surrendering to the Napoleonic Army and eventually being part of the Nazi’s Independent State of Croatia, Dubrovnik is now nicknamed “The Pearl of the Adriatic”. But if you’re not the type to dwell on history and fancy names, you can just always hang out at the beach and enjoy the weather, food and view that they have to offer. It might be a good idea to go there during its famous Dubrovnik Annual Summer festival that lasts for 45 days and is filled with music, food, concerts and other fun activities, not only for the locals but the tourists as well.  It is held every year between the 10th of July and the 25th of August.

Barbados. Other than the fact that Rihanna is once again the ambassador for tourism for her home country Barbados, it’s really a nice place to visit. It’s mostly famous for the beach resorts but the country also has a number of parks, museums and underground pools and caves that are worth seeing.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In case you want to beat the tourist rush for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. Make this year the year you visit the famous city.

Vietnam and Thailand. You can either stay in one of their more expensive resorts or backpack and travel from one country to the other by train. Unlike Hong Kong (which is mostly a huge mall) and Singapore (which is mostly a huge theme park), Vietnam and Thailand has some of the most historical and culture-rich sites and friendliest locals to make your stay even better. If you’re adventurous enough you can also try their famous cheap street eats.

Trujillo, Peru or the Dominican Republic. If you’ve read the book “The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” you’d know about these places’ political history. But their heritage is full of even more amazing finds. In Peru they hold the Trujillo Marinera Festival during January so you might want to pack your bags soon. They also have those Moche and Inca ruins that would be great for landscape photography. As for the Dominican Republic, they have great beaches and resorts if you’re tired of Mexico and Cuba.

No matter where you decide to go this year, just make sure you try to experience whatever place you go to in the real sense of the word. Don’t just stay within the confines of the hotel or the resort. Go out and meet the people. Eat what the locals eat, where the locals eat. Live their lives (at least as much as you can). This way you don’t only get a relaxing vacation or an unforgettable adventure. You also get to keep memories that staying indoors won’t give you.

You’ll find yourself lucky if you land yourself a Sagittarius friend. More than being fun people to hang out with, they have a lot of positive traits that anyone can ever wish for in a friend and a companion.

For one, they are very honest so you can count on them to tell you the truth and not say things just to make you feel better. Most Sags believe that it’s better to bite the bullet now. They will expect the same from you, of course. If they think the dress is ugly or the chick your dating is way out of your league they will say so not to bring you down but to make sure you don’t bad or make a fool out of yourself. You can always prove them wrong and they won’t feel bad about it. They will even feel happy for you and laugh at the fact that they were proven wrong.

They are also great conversationalist so watch out because they may be able to talk you into doing something really naughty just for the heck of it. They like doing fun, spontaneous and crazy things and they like doing these with fun, spontaneous and crazy people.

Sagittarius friends are very supportive of a person’s dreams, projects or any random ideas. If they see you have the passion for it (and Sags can be very passionate people), they will push you and even help you achieve your goal. They are enthusiastic and will plan each step with you. Their lively spirit and enthusiasm can be very infectious and you will need that from a friend when trying to achieve something. They will not stop your plans as they are not jealous people and won’t stop you just so you don’t leave them behind. The way the Archer lifts you up can take you a long way. When you’re feeling down, the Sag will go out of their ways to cheer you up. They’ll bring you to parties, introduce you to people and even do a little retail therapy with you.

For all of these, a Sag doesn’t expect anything in return. They are idealistic people and just like living in a better environment with a better atmosphere. They avoid pressure as much as possible so they try to have fun as much as possible and they can’t do that if the people around them are problematic and gloomy. That and they just generally like to help. They love the feeling of making people smile and helping people. It’s a good feeling that can lift a person up.

In a way, they can be overbearing too. There are Sags who doesn’t just like to listen and cheer you up, there are also those who tend to want to fix it all. Some Sags would take matters in their own hands. If you’re a Sag, keep in mind that not everyone wants this. Sometimes, all you need is a patient ear who listens and a shoulder to cry on. Understand that although this does not solve a problem, there are just problems that aren’t yours to solve and that sometimes, letting a person talk and rant and pour out all their emotions can help them ease their mind and hearts.

When talking to a Sagittarius woman, don’t beat around the bush. Although they’re good with flowery words (both giving and receiving) they like to get the facts about an issue straight. Especially if it’s an important one that needs to be resolved. Most women likes to talk but a lot of them would hold back and hesitate when sharing sensitive issues. Some may even think they’re doing it for the good of their partner or whoever they’re talking to. A Sag girl has always been straight forward and has the “hey here’s the deal, what do we do about it” attitude.

There’s really no problem communicating with a Sagittarius woman. She is very open and vocal about her ideas, her opinions and her feelings. She likes to be heard and would also listen intently if you need an audience. That being said, it’s confusing how they are often misinterpreted even by their partners. That’s because the problem lies on interpretation. Not only of her words but also her actions.

A Sag girl values her independence so, as much as possible, she would do what she wants and she will tell you that. This attitude makes her look selfish and leads one to think that the Sag won’t listen to your reasoning or suggestions. Keep in mind that they are not completely fickle. These independent, come-what-may individuals are the same philosophical and open-minded bunch that wouldn’t hesitate to put their feet in other people’s shoes in order to understand the current situation.

They just have a stubborn streak that makes them think what they’re doing is right or their idea is the right one. But really, who doesn’t? Just tell them outright that the matter is serious and needs to be talked about and thought about thoroughly and she will listen. Sag women are highly intelligent and understands the whole world doesn’t revolve around her.

Also, they don’t like feeling caged in so they don’t like being told what to do. Don’t make her feel that way. Make sure you give her the chance to contemplate on the issue and figure it out on her own. Don’t push your ideas on her. You can say “this is what I think about it” or “this is how i feel about it, what about you?” Value her opinions and feelings and make sure she knows that you do.  Trust that she knows what to do in times of crisis because most of the times, she would. Do not underestimate a Sagittarius’ capability to handle stress and problems. She has a clear mind and keeps a level head most of the time. A matured and developed Sag woman will surprise you with how she can think of a solution that is feasible.

Another thing that may be worthy of note when a guy has issues with his Sag partner. Most women would take offense on this no matter how you put it but for the Sagittarius woman, as long as you are within reason and puts it nicely and sincerely. Hear her out and she will hear you.

We’ve read a lot of comments and had a lot of questions about how hard it is to communicate with a Sagittarius man. There are also questions about how to understand a male Sagittarius partner. Technically these two are different and if it’s just communicating per se, you shouldn’t have a problem doing so. Generally, men are hard to communicate with since they’re more quiet than women. You might have a bit more luck with a Sagittarius, though.

Just because the Archer don’t talk as much as any woman does, doesn’t mean he’s hard to communicate with. A male Sagittarius, mostly, has no problem talking about what they want or how they feel. In fact, they welcome this type of … activity. We’ve said it so many times before but we’ll say it again, the Archer prefers to lay his cards on the table. For them, it’s better to prevent awkward situations from happening by simply making sure him and his partner are at the same level of understanding regarding an issue.

The biggest reason why women say they find it hard to communicate with their Sagittarius male partner is because they find it hard to understand them. There is a difference between communicating and understanding. If you look at it this way, the solution, simply, is to level with them.

Try to step into their shoes. If you think you don’t understand them then do you think there maybe a chance that they can’t understand you too? It may be cliche but women do sometimes talk in riddles and some men can be very straightforward and literal. Try to do it their way and lay out everything on the table like they do. Break it down if you must and do it together. This way you know you’ll be on the same level and pace with regards to the issue at hand.

Be patient when doing so. There will be times you may lose each other when trying to analyze some things and may have to back track. Don’t lose your temper. We say things we don’t mean when were angry. Obviously, that won’t help.

Show him you trust him. You’ll be surprised how far trust can take your relationship. Don’t just tell him that, make him feel it too. Give him the benefit of the doubt. Don’t do or say anything harsh that you might regret in the end when it turns out he was telling the truth about something.

Sagittarius men are often misinterpreted. Even if they like to talk about situations and work issues out, their actions can lead another person to think the opposite of what they say. Try to understand that they don’t do this on purpose. Sags don’t mean to hurt anyone especially the one they are with. Their happy-go-luck persona, for example, may give you the notion that they don’t take things, or even you, seriously. But remember, it’s hard to get a Sag into a commitment so being in a relationship with him means something!

Wherever there’s a crowd, expect a Sagittarius (or a bunch of ’em) hanging around. Sagittarius people like being in the loop and up to date with whatever’s happening, yes, but most of the times, they ARE what’s happening. People actually like being with those ruled by the sign of the archer. They can have more friends imaginable (sometimes even more than they can handle). It’s normal to get envious of so much attention so some may want to take a leaf off the Sagittarius’ book and figure out how they’re so popular. So how do Sagittarius attract people?

Obviously, by attract we don’t just mean a date or towards the opposite sex. Now, if you ask a Sag they probably can’t give you a straight answer. Most of the times they’re not even aware they’re being such crowd magnets. But that may be one of the biggest reasons they’re so successful at doing it.

If anything, a Sagittarius is always true to himself. They never put on a mask for one crowd, a different one for the other and then take them all off when they get home. They’re generally comfortable in their own skins that even though they aim to please anyone, they still don’t have to put on a show. Of course they expect no less from the people around them. They’re never afraid to say what they think and feel and they like to know how others do. It’s easier to gain other’s trust when you are trustworthy too.  People, in general, tend to admire those that are truthful and like to stick to them.

The archers also have a very positive, the-glass-is-half-full attitude and it’s human nature for positive to attract positive. Other positive people wouldn’t want the negative ones to rain on their parade. Not that they never bother about problems and downsides. They may have the happy-go-lucky brand but Sagittarius works through any obstacle they come across. They can be hard workers especially when working towards something they really want.

Now, with positive thinking also comes open mindedness. There are things and situations that will come your way that aren’t black or white but in various shades of grey. If you’re a Sag (or you want to be like a Sag) you’ll know that you need to analyze these things and accept it the way it is or work a way to make it acceptable by your standards. Sagittarius people can be firm in what they believe in but they are also acquainted with the word compromise. You can’t get everything you want in life is a popular phrase and that popular phrase is true. It doesn’t mean, however, that you’re going to stop there. There are other things in life that, you may not realize now, are way better than what you have dreamed of.

It may all sound so simple and easy to say (and it is) but some of these things are actually hard to do. It’s not always easy to attract people you can connect with but don’t let that stop you and bring you down. A real Sagittarius won’t.

Somewhere in this blog we have mentioned that one should not judge a Sag too quickly. If you’re thinking it is easier said than done then you are right. Or at least highly understandable. It is very easy to judge a person most especially someone born under the Sagittarius zodiac. They have qualities that gets misinterpreted more than any other signs of the zodiac wheel.

The Rule Breaker. Sagittarius ruled people likes taking chances and pushing boundaries. They like to know their limitations so they can find out how far they can go. If you look at it in their way, pushing boundaries just means perseverance. A Sag would go a long way to make sure they finish something they started. They are not afraid to try unusual procedures if it would bring good results. This leads for them to be misinterpreted as rule breakers. They would try anything out if it means it’s something new and most especially, out of the usual. For them, if it’s fun and brings new experiences then it can’t be that bad. It just depends on who’s looking at it.

The Heart Breaker. A Sagittarius love being around people but most of all they like getting to know people. They would figure you out like a puzzle to know what tickles you pink. Sags are somewhat people pleasers in that regard. They are very accommodating and they would give you what you want and need without realizing they are leading you on. The Jupiter ruled zodiac are also hopeless romantics.They are forever out there looking for “the one” and they aren’t afraid of getting hurt or taking chances because deep inside, they know that “someone” is out there waiting for them and they wont miss an opportunity if it means they will finally meet. If they feel like the person they are dating is not the one they will be honest and say so so they can move on to find their soul mate. For them, the truth should be said even if it hurts. On another note, Sags are huge flirts too. Sometimes they don’t realize it but they are. They are very playful and sociable and they would have a conversation with anyone who is up to it. Especially with the opposite sex. :p

The Know-It-All. The philosophical nature of Sags can also lead them to be misinterpreted. Sagittarius people are inquisitive and forever looking for answers. They don’t stop when you give them a good-enough answer. It has to be the absolute truth. Although they are fun-loving people they can rant too like when they don’t understand why people do things a certain way, for example. This is mostly why they are pegged as a bunch of know-it-all. They will talk about things that they don’t understand and suggest something that, for them, makes more sense.

The Sagittarius people have strong personalities so they can come off as extreme (and we don’t mean it in a good way). The best thing to do is look inside them and know what their intentions are. Most of the time, they think and act in ways they think will benefit not just them but the people around them too.

People born under the Sagittarius zodiac are seen as happy-go-lucky, nonchalant and, a lot of times (although they usually don’t mean to be), callous. But for every one of these adjectives that people throw at the Archer, there is a positive trait that weighs ten times more that can make the seemingly negative traits fade. Here are some of them.

1) Independent. Being independent can mean a lot of things and the Archer takes it all. Whether financially, intellectually or emotionally, a Sagittarius prides himself to be independent. They are very good at handling their finances so they always have something to take out of their pockets in case of emergencies. It may not be easy for them to pick a career that bring them success because a Sag needs something that doesn’t restrict him to a certain type of conduct but they do their best no matter what is thrown their way and at the same time they don’t stop looking for that job that would give them the fulfillment they need. Emotionally, they are usually in control. No, they’re not cold and calculating. As a matter of fact, the Sag can be the most affectionate sign there is if they want to be or if they think you deserve that affection. They are emotionally stable and does not resort to drama to get what they want. Sags love having fun too much to give in to drama. They’d rather take their time to think of a way to solve things in a quiet way. They try to solve their own problems too and try not to drag everyone in it.

2) Optimistic. This is a part of their happy-go-lucky character as well as their intellectual part. Whereas a pessimistic person will see so many road blocks, the Sag can think of a hundred and one ways of how and why things can work out. Unlike others who just say, things are going to be okay, the Archer actually thinks of ways to get to the goal.

3) Confident. Not the overly confident type, the Sag just have enough confidence that lets them slide through the day with ease. No matter what obstacle they face, they are confident they can get through it with a bit of logical thinking. Their confidence is also part of their charisma and appeal. They don’t believe you have to be gorgeous (although of course that helps, A LOT) to gain attention. You just have to think you’re gorgeous and that’s how Sags are. It may sound conceited as you read this but probably the thing that doesn’t make them so overbearing is the fact that they know how to use all their good qualities together.

4) Generous. The Archer is generous in more ways than one. They will offer support to friends and loved ones whether it be monetary or a sound advice. They will share their roof if they need to not in exchange of anything but just because they hate to see anyone they care for in a pickle.

All of these in one person is a great deal to top so don’t be too quick to judge the Sag. 😉
